Desktop Computer & CRT Screen

The graph above shows the way a desktop personal computer and 15″ CRT screen uses electricity.  The computer tested was a rather old ordinary desktop computer.  The test consisted simply of switching it on and then playing a child’s computer game for an hour and then switching it off again.

The PC proved to be a resistive load (Watts and VA measured were almost exactly the same).

The summary figures for the test are:

Max. Power drawn  160W
Engery consumed per hour of normal use  0.14kWh
