Saving Power at Home & Work



The graph above shows the way a normal dishwasher uses electricity.  The dishwasher was set to position 3 on the dial (which according to the front panel is “Normal Wash 60 C”) and run through a normal cycle. You can see a number of key characteristics:

  • The dishwasher is almost entirely a resistive load.  The kW and KVA readings coincide almost completely.
  • Dishwashers are clearly quite power hungry.

The summary figures for the test are:
